Just when you thought you had seen everything in golf
putters, along comes inventor Werner Nickel with a high-performance
club that is loaded with new features, including a patented
device that picks up and stores a golf ball in the club head
while precisely marking its spot on the green at the same
time without the golfer having to bend over to do it.
It even reverses the process, replacing the ball and picking
up the marker. Called NICKEL PUTTER No.1, the product line
will make its U.S. debut at the PGA Merchandise show in Orlando,
Florida in January.
Werner Nickel, a known specialist in putter dynamics and
design, is a certified mechanical engineer with a real passion
for golf. He is the Founder and President of NICKEL PUTTER
GmbH in Germany, a company setup to manufacture his putter
product line using CNC Technology. This is no ordinary
putter with a new gimmick, insists Nickel. Weve
spent years designing a precise, German engineered, golf club
with unique differences that conforms to R&A and USGA
standards. Weve balanced a number of characteristics
that improve putting control, including an extended aim-line
on the club and added weights in the head that provide forgiveness
and stroke stability. The result is an attractive high-performance,
high-tech choice for both recreational and serious competitive
golfers, Nickel said.
In recreational rounds, the patented pick-up and marking
feature is inserted in the underside of the clubs head.
Instant USGA compliance for competitive play is achieved by
simply removing the device, accomplished by one hand in less
than two seconds.
The new NICKEL PUTTER No.1 is designed to appeal to those
golfers seeking a premium club and who enjoy the bragging
rights of owning the latest technology in their sport. It
is also expected to serve a more practical need for those
golfers who desire the convenience and comfort of not having
to bend over to pick up their ball and place a marker.
The Company also designed a second device that grabs
the ball out of the hole from a full standing position,
says Wolfram Doelker of WD Enterprises, who represents NICKEL
PUTTER GmbH of Germany to develop distribution partnerships
in the U.S. This Ball Pick-Up is an optional
accessory that fits on the top-end of any putter grip. It
remains conveniently tucked away and closed during play. With
the flip of a thumb, like on a cigarette lighter, the Ball
Pick-Up pops open and is ready to grab the ball from the hole,
Doelker said.
The NICKEL PUTTER branded products are already being sold
in Europe. The USA launch at the PGA Merchandising Show in
January will be the first exposure to distributors and retailers
in this country.
