MacGregor Golf uses the worlds most advanced technologies
to create golf equipment that makes the game easier and more
fun for all golfers. MacGregor Golf is dedicated to the
principle that better technology, better materials, and better
design will produce better all around performing golf clubs.
MacGregor announced that it has agreed to acquire the Greg
Norman Collection apparel business (GNC) from
the adidas Group. At the same time, it disclosed that Greg
Norman has purchased a significant equity stake in MacGregor
Golf.
The Greg Norman Collection, a division of Reebok International
Ltd. which is a subsidiary of the adidas Group, is a leading
worldwide marketer and distributor of men's sportswear, golf
apparel and accessories. Established in 1992, Greg Norman
Collection is inspired by one of the world's leading golf
professionals, the man they call The Shark.
Reflecting his adventurous spirit and confident, independent
style, the collection captures Greg Norman's powerful elegance,
enthusiasm and passion for an individual design sense. The
Collection began with a golf-inspired knitwear line and has
since become a complete lifestyle collection, identified with
the four color shark logo.
The two companies, with combined annual sales of more
than $150 million, will be operated post-closing on a
consolidated basis with MacGregor Golfs CEO, Barry Schneider,
and Norman controlling a majority of the shares.
Almost all drivers, fairway woods and utility woods have
face inserts. But the welds that join the insert to the club
head limit the size of the sweet spot. So hitting off-center
(on or outside the welds) often means long grass instead of
the short stuff; or fringe instead of dance floor.
With MacGregors Cup Face 360° technology there
are no face welds. The Proprietary Plasma Welding is completely
off the face, enabling maximum rebound properties over a larger
hitting area 30% larger than standard face inserts.
Cup Face 360° technology means your off-center
shots will feel and perform as if youve hit them dead
center. The edge of the face can still be a good ways down
the center of the fairway; or attacking the flag.
MacGregor Golf And The Greg Norman Collection
-
MacGregor MACTEC NVG2 Tour Driver with Graphite Shaft
- At the heart of it all is a TVC beta-titanium cup face
with maximum rebound properties over a maximum hitting
area, so every shot feels like you hit it dead-center.
The NVG2 Tour also features a 15-3-3-3 beta-titanium crown
insert, which allows extra weight to be distributed low
and deep to the side, lowering CG 12% for very low spin
and optimal launch properties.Even the shaft is unique.
The Speeder Quadra Action shaft combines MacGregor's Quadra
Action shaft technology with Fujikura's famous Speeder
technology. For players with more aggressive swings, the
three bend point, four zone Quadra Action shaft adds clubhead
speed for more distance, while Speeder's proprietary Triax
material reduces vibration for more control.
-
NVG2 UT3 and UT4 Hybrids - Hybrids benefit from
Cup Face technology in a big way. They're designed with
smaller heads for expanded functionality, and Cup Face
360° makes the entire face the sweet spot. The proprietary
plasma welding is completely off the face, enabling maximum
rebound properties over a larger hitting area. The patented
Tri-Plane sole reduces turf drag at ball impact for more
solid contact from all kinds of turf conditions. MacGregor's
engineers worked overtime to maximize sole plate aerodynamics,
so those 170-yard shots look less and less imposing, even
to the casual golfer. One swing with the NVG2 Hybrid will
change the way you think about golf.
-
MacGregor MACTEC NVG2 Irons with Graphite Shafts -
Tour professionals make such consistently perfect
contact with the ball that there's an area of wear on
their irons that they call the "dime spot."
Because most golfers have more of a "silver dollar
spot," the technology in the MACTEC NVG2 irons creates
unmatched distance and forgiveness. It all starts with
Cup Face 360° technology, which creates a high-rebound
surface that stretches over the entire clubface for awe-inspiring
distance on off-center hits. The hollow body structure
that supports this moves weight away from the face for
maximum stability and superior forgiveness. The stabilizing
power of tungsten weight inserts turns the club into a
giant, metal trampoline - one that's just waiting for
the ball to jump off of it.
