The Bobby Jones Golf Company was formed by the family
of Bobby Jones
(a group known as Jonesheirs) and Walter Rosenthal, a skilled
entrepreneur. Two important golf club lines, fairway
woods and hybrids make up the Bobby Jones Golf
Company.
In 2003 Jesse Ortiz, a well known golf club designer,
joined The Bobby Jones Golf Company. The Bobby Jones
Players Series by Jesse Ortiz was introduced and has Ortiz
as the chief designer. Ortiz had owned his own company, the
Ortiz Design Studio, where he produced
a line of metal woods and hybrids that reflect his innovation
and artistry. What a perfect match.
The Bobby Jones Players Series by Jesse Ortiz honors the
Jones tradition and are
stamped with the Jesse Ortiz signature. It's an "implement"
(the expression Bobby used for his clubs) and an approach
that Robert Tyre Jones would, no doubt, have endorsed.
"The easiest constant to fix is the club," Jones
once stated. "The right club takes one difficulty
from those which are already too many." Ortiz knows exactly
what it takes to finesse a great golf club. He has employed
the latest advancements in multi-material clubhead technology,
featuring proprietary Fujikura and Graphite Design shafts.
Bob Jones IV is confident about this union of great golf
names. The Bobby Jones Golf Company has worked hard to ensure
that Bobby Jones is associated with nothing less than first-class
products. Jesse Ortiz is the only designer today they trust
to create golf clubs that are 'best in breed,' like his great-grandfather
Bobby.
Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz Hybrids has been named the
winner of Golf magazines Hybrid ClubTest. The publication,
which releases ClubTest reviews for each club category throughout
the year, noted Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz Hybrids as Winner,
Testers Top Pick and Best Value
over seven notable competitors in its September 2006 issue.
Ten golfers, ranging in handicap from two to 25, and ranging
in age from 26 to 57, tested eight hybrid clubs in categories
from Look and Forgiveness to Playability
and Distance. Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz Hybrids
claimed top marks in Look/Rough, Forgiveness/Rough,
Feel/Chip, Playability/Chip, Feel/Fairway
and Overall Performance.
Let's take a look at what Bobby Jones Golf offers in the
category of fairway woods and hybrids. If you are looking
for some great fairway, recovery, or just fun clubs to hit,
these might be what you have been searching for.

-
The Hybrids by Jesse Ortiz - Using the same technology
as our fairway metals, Bobby Jones Hybrids are designed
to replace the hard-to-hit long irons. The sole design
improves playability from a variety of lies and simplifies
difficult to hit shots from rough, to bunkers to tight
lies to hardpan. Our philosophy takes advantage of a fairway
metal's low and deep CG, its wide-bodied TOST, and its
versatile contoured sole. Bobby Jones Hybrids are also
shorter in length to increase accuracy and to truly be
long iron replacements, not fairway metal alternatives.
For this reason, our hybrids are labeled exponentially
to identify which iron it replaces. Thus, for example,
the 21 degree H3 (H to the power of 3) is the 3 iron replacement;
and H5 (H to the power of 5) is the 5 iron replacement.

The Fairway Woods by Jesse Ortiz - Tour-Proven
Technology, Playability and Forgiveness. Bobby Jones Players
is the next generation of technology from an earlier Jesse
Ortiz design that became the #1 fairway metal on Tour,
from 1998 to 2001. Smaller in profile, but slightly deeper
in face dimension, Players is designed with the look that
Tour professionals prefer, while incorporating the critical
weight distributions that enhance playability and forgiveness
for mid- to high-handicap golfers. The clean, symmetrical
shape of the heads, encourage easy alignment to the target,
providing shot maneuverability that is uncommon in fairway
metals. The sleek, tri-tiered power sole reduces drag
in all turf conditions. The classically shaped, 440cc
Players drivers feature two strategically positioned weight
screws, of 2 (grams gold) and 12 (grams silver), that
expand the Triangle of StabilityT, maximizing the accuracy-enhancing
phenomenon known as the "gear effect." All Players
clubs feature a deep, translucent "forest green"
color, proprietary JS-6 and JS-7 shafts by Graphite Design,
and classic, heavy-knit headcovers.
