6teesix is the new concept that promises to be a six-player-per-team, match-play format event over six holes and completed in just 60 minutes. Based around the Ryder Cup concept, team of six players will compete in pairs in a match-play format against pairs from rival teams over the six holes.

Incorporating Texas Scamble rules – which rewards both team and individual play – the sport is designed to be a chance to socialize and bring the fun back into golf.

Creator of 6teesix, the Herfordshire-based William Anderson, added: “Surveys suggest the 3.5 million golfers that play each year are not members of golf clubs, and memberships have been declining.

The existing golfer has a chance to keep his or her eye in, ready for those three, four or five big rounds a year. For the novice golfer it is a safe way to start enjoying the game without pressure and stress

Teams should compete in a league format with the top teams invited to play in the national finals at a championship course of choice.
